I will be participating in two programs at the first-ever Oakland Book Festival, which runs 11 to 6 or so at Oakland City Hall and in front of said hall, at 14th and Broadway, Oakland. 12th St. BART will get you within a block of it or there’s free street parking because it’s Sunday OR Parking at the Clay Street Garage (1414 Clay St, Oakland) is available for a flat fee of $5 for the day.

The programs I will be in are at 11, “The Manhattanization of Oakland’s Literary Scene,” a panel moderated by Al Young, and at 4:45,” Fightin’ Words: Oakland Out Loud,” a reading with an emphasis on the Bay Area’s history of activist literature, hosted by Claire Ortalda (see link below). There’ll be music and food and booths. I can also be found at Booth 12, the PEN Oakland booth, between gigs.
